The tablet war has just entered a new era with the introduction this week of a Tesco-branded seven-inch tablet costing just £119. The cosily named Hudl is equipped with built-in wi-fi, a nippy 1.5 gigahertz Quad-Core processor, Android’s 4.2.2 Jellybean operating system, Bluetooth and GPS. In other words, everything you need to surf the net, check emails, read a map and watch movies. The Hudl is available in four colours – black, purple, red and blue – and has a battery life of around nine hours. Now all we need is a faster, wider wi-fi infrastructure and we’ll be half way to achieving the sci-fi levels of connection the South Koreans have been enjoying for years.
