Avoca, the cheap-as-chips tablet

Tesco and Argos are not the only players introducing cut-price tablets to the masses. Carphone Warehouse has just joined the throng with a seven-inch tablet for less than 50 nicker. That’s half the price of Tesco’s appealing Hudl and Argos’s not-so-appealing, Bush-manufactured My Tablet. We haven’t a clue how good or bad the Avoca is but it does run Android’s Jelly Bean and comes with a seven-inch touchscreen and a webcam, so that’s okay. Device Squad wonders how long it’ll be before we hear announcements of similar cut-price tablets from Lidl, Primark and, er, Poundland.
